Unit 1 - Week 4
Phonics:
It's all about the letters O through S this week. Help your child recognize the sounds these letters make by finding items around the house that begin with each sound. For example, /o/ for olive or oatmeal (point out the difference between the short and long o sound), /p/ for pet, /q/ for quilt, /r/ for rug, and /s/ sock, etc.
In class we will be reading Plaidypus Lost (Look at the third link, 1.3, under Reading Street Unit 1 Books for more info.
Please help your child match Uppercase and Lowercase letters O-S. Perhaps you could mix up letters in a bowl, pick them out and match up like a puzzle.
P.S. I will be happy to send home a set of upper- and lower-case letters, at your request.
